Business Simulations - Functional Applications
Business simulations fall into two broad areas of application -- Functional - in which the objective is to improve personal or team performance on a technical level. The focus is directed towards the task, requiring analysis of the situation and how it is to be managed. A functional simulation needs maximum pressure and/or minimum time to increase the stress in making decisions. It tests the ability to react to changing scenarios and to develop efficient and effective means of analysis and work practices to cope with the pressure.
- Behavioural - in which participants' behaviour and performance is observed under stress, or in demanding situations.
Simulations may have multiple objectives, with both behavioural and functional aims.
